Meet Maria
SudduthSWOCC#7-2025
I am invested in the community college experience. I became a lifelong educator because of that bridge offered through attending a local college. I had professors and counselors invested in my success and I want to pay that forward. I strongly believe in the power of community colleges to uplift lives to build for a better future. This was my own personal story and I want to see that story replicated across our counties.
I am seeking re-election to Southwestern Community College Board #7. It has been my honor to serve SWOCC these last four years. During that time we saw great gains across student success outcomes and completion rates as evidenced by the college being awarded the Achieving the Dream Leah Meyer Austin National Award. The award, given annually, signifies a college’s adoption of practices delivering a student-focused culture. Only two community colleges across the United States were honored with this award.
Should you choose to put your faith in me, I will serve you to the best of my capacity.

I will provide outreach to our tri-counties communities; improving communications and flow of information so that we all know about the 70+ programs, the support systems in place for success and SWOCC’s vision for the future.

I want to listen to and develop partnerships within our communities to explore how we can further grow career pathways and increase enrollment for both or our campuses. I also work as a volunteer chaplain. In this role, I work with community members who are housing and food insecure. I want to facilitate those who are impacted by our community economic realities, connecting them to career path opportunities, for both Coos and Curry Campuses.

Southwestern leads and inspires lifelong learning. I want to stay the course as a member of SWOCC Board. The strong communication and work ethic of the Board and Administration together serves our communities well.
